25 of the Most Striking Hotels in Dubai

The sail-shaped tower on its own island, the world’s tallest hotel on the Marina, the pyramid at Wafi, and a restored courtyard house in old Al Fahidi.

The Dubai Marina skyline seen across the water

Dubai built its hotels to break records and to look like nothing else, and kept a few old courtyard houses through it all. This list has the sail-shaped Burj Al Arab on its own island off Jumeirah Beach, the record-setting Ciel on the Marina, the pyramid-shaped Raffles at Wafi, and the restored Al Fahidi courtyard house that is now the XVA Art Hotel.

The list is grouped by character, not ranked. Most of the hotels link to their own site, where the rate is current and you book direct; a few are listed without a link.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these hotels ranked?
No. The groups sort them by character, and the order within each group carries no meaning.

What made a hotel interesting enough for this list?
A story. Every entry set a record, pushed its architecture into new shapes, or kept a piece of old Dubai. Comfort and luxury alone did not qualify.

Why are there no prices?
Rates change daily and a priced list goes stale in a month. Where a hotel runs its own site, its name links there, so you see the current rate and book direct.

Which hotel puts me closest to the day trips on this site?
Most day trips from Dubai head into the desert for dune drives and camps, up the coast to Abu Dhabi, or across to the mountains and wadis of the east coast. The Downtown, Marina and Jumeirah hotels sit closest to the city’s own sights.

Do the old-town hotels book out faster than the big resorts?
Often. The heritage houses in Al Fahidi and Bur Dubai, the XVA and the Arabian Courtyard, hold far fewer rooms than the Palm resorts and fill up over the cool winter season. Book those ahead.
